Technical Manager – Mechanical Design Background

I am currently working in partnership with a leading Main Contractor who are looking to appoint a Technical Manager to their London office to manage and lead a variety of projects from £10 million M&E value.

The company are one of the largest privately-owned construction companies within the UK with a full order book for the next 2 years and even more work in the pipeline. They work closely with specialist sub-contractors to produce high quality projects with great value to the client.

As the Technical Manager your duties will include:

• Support the Regional Technical Director and Principal Technical Manager in delivering the technical engineering management strategy.
• Selection of suitable MEP design consultants to support the delivery of design on all our projects
• Produce agree and manage, with all relevant parties, a realistic design programme and information required schedule to satisfy design, procurement and construction requirements
• Oversee the design process through project bids and PCSA periods and at all stages working with the design and commercial teams.
• Manage the production of the contractor’s proposals and validation, ensuring they are complete and unambiguous
• Ensure the design has been reviewed on all projects with respect to mitigating Health and Safety issues prior to construction and ensure that hazards are noted on all drawings at each stage of their production
• Support the implementation of Continuous Improvement programmes and innovation.

My client is looking for a Technical Manager who is familiar with RIBA / BSRIA work stages and who has successfully managed teams on projects over £10 Million M&E value; with good technical MEP engineering knowledge, procurement and management systems, risk management, life cycle cost and value creation.
