Technical Author

About the Role

As a Technical Author, you will be the creative force behind our User Guides, Data Sheets, and various other documentation that supports our cutting-edge products. Your work will be crucial in ensuring that our customers can safely and effectively use our products to achieve their learning outcomes. You’ll work closely with our Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams to maintain consistency and accuracy across all our documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Document Creation & Maintenance: Develop and maintain attractive and engaging User Guides, Safety Guides, Data Sheets, Installation Guides, and Quick Start Sheets that adhere to a common standard.
• Visual Content: Create and maintain diagrams using Adobe Illustrator and SolidWorks Viewer, photograph products, and collaborate with our graphic designer to produce visually appealing and accurate documentation.
• Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure all documentation meets relevant safety legislation (e.g., CE marking, UKCA marking) and is accurate and complete.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing team to support the production of marketing materials, ensuring consistency across all content.
• Document Management: Oversee document retention and change control, ensuring all documents are up to date and in line with company standards.

Who You’ll Work With

You will report directly to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Graphic Design. This role does not have line management responsibilities, allowing you to focus on content creation and quality.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong writing skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator and familiarity with SolidWorks Viewer.
• Basic photography skills and experience with Photoshop.
• An eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy and consistency.
• Understanding of product safety legislation and documentation compliance.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
