Salary: £33,500/ €36000 per annum + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

At SSE Renewables, our mission is to deliver the green energy the world needs now and in the future. We are looking for engineering graduates with a real interest in renewable energy, innovation and sustainability to join us on the journey to NetZero. As an engineering graduate joining SSE Renewables, you will be based in the Technical Centre of Excellence working across technologies including solar and battery, hydro, onshore and offshore wind. Working in a team of technical experts in your core discipline, you will gain a strong foundation of knowledge in your first six-month placement.

Over the remaining two years of the programme, your placement pathway will be shaped by your own career goals and interests. With the opportunity to work across the renewables business, placements can range from researching new markets and preparing bids, to design and delivery of projects, and working with asset management on the maintenance of existing assets. Graduates will have the opportunity to work on large scale projects including Coire Glas – the UK’s largest pumped storage facility in 40 years, or at Dogger Bank, the world’s largest offshore wind farm. With developments across the UK, Ireland, Europe and Japan, there will be opportunity to collaborate with our international teams. To give a more holistic view of renewables projects, placements can include working with the sustainability team on the environmental and social impacts of our work or learning more of the financial aspects of engineering in corporate finance. Our graduates have obtained substantive posts following completion of the programme in roles including international design and delivery, asset management, project development, offshore and onshore mechanical or electrical engineering, construction design and delivery.

Throughout the programme you will be supported by an engineering manager who will help you set objectives and plan placements throughout the programme. You will have support in obtaining chartership with a dedicated mentor, and a graduate buddy who will help you build your network.

What do I need to join?

At SSE we're proud to celebrate difference. We all have different skills, experience and backgrounds and we strive to have a friendly and inclusive culture where you can be yourself. Safety is at the heart of everything we do at SSE and we live by the mantra 'if it's not safe, we don't do it'. You should show alignment with our core values and have a genuine passion and interest in the energy sector.

You’ll have a minimum of a 2:2 in the desired degree disciplines listed above.

As the organisations grows and becomes more international, our graduates need to be highly flexible in order to embrace the changes and keep up with the fast-paced evolution of the business. Our graduates are agile in their thinking and seek to address knowledge gaps. You should be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.

What’s in it for you?

An excellent package with 34 days holiday entitlement, enhanced maternity/paternity leave, discounted healthcare, salary sacrifice car leasing and much more.
