An exciting opportunity to join EDINA’s management team with responsibility for the management of EDINA’s software and data engineering team. This is a full-time, open-ended position based in central Edinburgh. The role is hybrid, you will report to the Director of Edinburgh and will be on campus a minimum of one day per week.
What the job involves:
- Leading the Technical Operations team of software and data engineers, with overall HR responsibility for hiring, coaching and talent management;
- Allocate engineering resources ensuring technical skills are in place to deliver EDINA’s projects and services;
- Work with EDINA Head of Services to understand service roadmap priorities, plan and ensure delivery of prioritised developments;
- Contribute to strategic aims of EDINA as a member of management team, with key responsibility for Technical Operations section;
- Ownership of strategies for core business systems e.g. CRM/Help Desk/incident management, business continuity planning, information security;
- Manage and have oversight of hardware, application software, middleware and performance of EDINA’s subscription services.
A bit about you:
- You will have considerable experience of managing technical teams ensuring development of skills and knowledge and business-driven resource allocation;
- You will have good people skills able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences;
- You will be strongly technical, ideally with experience of software development;
- You will be experienced in technical product development and product diversification;
- You will have a passion for identifying and putting into effect relevant business and development processes.
