There is a permanent opportunity for you here as a Mechanical Engineering Manager working with our friendly team from our busy college site in London.


The Role

  • To provide management and assurance on all aspects of compliance within the specific contract to ensure client, staff and user environments are safe, secure, and compliant with all statutory and mandatory legislation, and guidance. To carry out these duties and ensure that the Estate is run in a way that optimises efficiency, effectiveness, and end user experience.
  • The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all areas relating to estate’s reactive, planned maintenance and minor works are compliant, robust, suitable, and sufficient, for the provision of assurance status reports, for the generation and management of action plans to achieve and maintain compliance.
  • To be the professional lead for compliance, and business management functions, responsible for managing the delivery of a compliant, high quality, safe, efficient and value for money service.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the implementation of compliance and business management throughout ensuring robust systems and processes are in place with affective performance management in the form of trackers and other tangible systems.


  • The post holder will hold a key managerial role within the team, will lead by example, providing a professional, positive client focussed ethos and will strive to deliver high quality outcomes.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of estates maintenance compliance in accordance with statutory regulations.
  • Create a programme to monitor contractors on a periodic basis and to check works requested are being carried out to specification.
  • Manage and co-ordinate contract related reports, point of liaison with H&S and other related bodies.
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure PPM activity is fully commensurate with statutory regulations, other best practice, or industry standard guidance.
  • Work closely with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, and other departments ensuring that all other requirements for compliance are integrated into our functions.
  • Advise and support managers on the identification and requirements of staff training (operational and management) to ensure that all staff receive training that supports and contributes to a compliant environment.
  • Ensure that the post holder keeps abreast of any changes in legislation and guidance relating to our services.
  • Develops and embeds robust governance, systems, and processes throughout.
  • Manage the implementation and management of QSHE requirements.
  • In collaboration with the client base and key stakeholders, develop, monitor, and review environment related policies and procedures in terms of compliance and meeting statutory responsibilities.
  • Track the status of internal policies and procedures, working closely with Subject Matter Experts (authorised engineers etc) to ensure continued compliance.
  • Promote and develop a culture of responsiveness, ownership, and customer care within the team.
  • To provide advice on all matters relating to compliance with statutory, mandatory, and best practice.
  • To be responsible for the management and co-ordination of all compliance activities across the range of disciplines within the team, reporting concerns and adverse trends to senior management.
  • Investigate and promote new working practices within the team, providing a more efficient and responsive service.
  • Understand and have a good working knowledge of systems across all site buildings ensuring the development and maintenance of robust systems and processes.
  • Undertake training where necessary to learn new techniques.
  • Ensure there is a robust training programme in place to ensure all staff are up to date with all training specific to the needs of an effective estates.


Hours of Work

· Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm, 40 hours per week

Qualifications and Experience Required

· Experience working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Minor works Manager within an FM environment is highly desirable

· Qualification in an Estates or Facilities related subject or equivalent experience ideally within compliance, and delivery of minor work

· Recognised Health & Safety related qualification, such as NEBOSH

· Strong management skills
