Head of Web Engineering - Frontend - £120K - £150K + Bonus

This role will be the equivalent of a Principal/Staff position. You will not be people management but focused on driving best practices across web engineering and frontend technologies.

This company’s website handles over 7,000 requests per second, and your expertise in performance, accessibility, and scalability will be crucial.

As the Head of Engineering (Frontend), you will:

• Define the technical direction and long-term roadmap for the front-end.
• Be passionate about optimising Core Web Vitals.
• Web performance tech - Edge computing, WAFs, CDNs
• Mentor and guide front-end engineers within their product squads.
• Collaborate closely with vendors, who view the company as a thought leader.
• Participate in conferences, meetups, and share your experiences through blogging.

Your background should include working with highly scalable e-commerce platforms, where you have played a key role in defining and advancing front-end capabilities.

Tech Stack: Preact, TypeScript, Rust, Fastly, GCP

Location: 3 days onsite in London

Salary: £120K - £150K
