About The Role
Overview
Everyone says it, but Ecotricity is genuinely a bit special, we have a dynamic culture, remarkable people, and authentic vision to change the world, and that’s not something many companies can say.
To advance our delivery of the next generation of customer-facing tools, we're looking for an equally special Software Development Manager. This person will lead four talented teams covering the development of our AWS/Databricks, Salesforce, Billing, and Full Stack platforms.
The right candidate will have a track record of developing and nurturing people, evolving processes, and engaging with stakeholders and product teams.
It is important that you have a fully-fledged history of setting up engineering processes and delivering change, and that you speak the language of top-notch software engineers.
You have a background in building systems yourself, but now, your ability to lead and engage in peer-level discussions, alongside helping to architect and design our future, is what counts most.
We offer the option for up to 50% hybrid, but the successful candidate will be a person who will appreciate our great office in Stroud, free onsite parking, and a train station two minutes away. You’ll also agree that success, at a senior level, requires human face-to-face interaction, and that means being present and visible in the office for part of the week.

Ecotricity is Britain's greenest energy company. When we started back in 1995, we were the first company in the world to provide a new kind of electricity- the green kind.
Our mission was, and remains, to change the way energy is made and used in Britain- by replacing fossil fuels with clean, renewable energy.
We don't just supply green energy, we use the money from our customers' bills to make it ourselves too- we build windmills and sun parks in Britain. We call this 'bills in to mills'. In 2021, we started work on building two new solar parks, and now, in 2023, we're bringing geothermal energy to our customers' fuel mix, a first in the UK. We're also developing green gas mills which will generate 100% green gas from a source that we will never run out of- grass.
We don't just focus on energy though- we built Electric Highways, Britain's leading network of electric vehicle charging points, we helped Forest Green Rovers become the greenest football club in the world, and, in partnership with RSPB, we launched Britain's greenest mobile phone service, Ecotalk.
Ecotricity is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to providing equality for all.
