Key Responsibilities of a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer:


  • Manage Procedures and Prioritise Safety: Oversee operating procedures, promote a strong safety culture and adhere to Health & Safety and statutory procedures.
  • Achieve Production Targets: Ensure production targets are consistently met every shift.Coordinate a team of onsite engineers and third-party repair companies with their activities on site.
  • Operational performance: By safe, effective management and development of the engineering team on site, supporting the Site Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Manager in the implementation of Maintenance Excellence.
  • Provide emergency breakdown and support on all equipment and software, managing issues and adhering to the internal escalation process and procedures
  • Perform Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular PPM maintenance to keep equipment in optimal condition. Control maintenance activities on site, speed of response, quality of repair and standards of workmanship.
  • Prepare and chair: Daily Review Meetings with Key Stakeholders.
  • Communication: Maintain Quality of Service by ensuring high quality communications to all stakeholders and ensuring that reports are well written and legible
  • Troubleshoot Issues: Identify and resolve technical problems efficiently. Undertake analysis of CMMS data to assist forward planning for CI opportunities
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Implement strategies for ongoing process and performance enhancement.
  • Document and Report Issues: Accurately document and report any issues encountered during shifts.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with other teams and departments to achieve production goals through effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Control of Spares Parts Ensure that all spare part usage is accounted for using our bespoke QM parts system.
  • People Leadership provide flexibility and the best use of skills and capabilities of the maintenance team on site.
  • Manage the day to day running of the team, including delivery of performance reviews, development and coaching of team, dealing with employee relations issues , employee welfare and wellbeing, approving holiday bookings and holding return-to-work meetings.
  • Standards Act as a role model demonstrating our company values.
  • Lead by example: Consistently give your best. Assist with coaching of new or less experienced team members and encourage them to achieve their best by identification of individual training requirements. Recognises the achievement of others.


Qualifications & Skills

Relevant engineering experience [Minimum NVQ Level 3], equivalent or transferrable skills.

Full and legal rights to work in the UK. (We cannot sponsor or support VISA applicants at this time)

Essential

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or related field
  • Previous experience as Multi Skilled Electrical / Mechanical Engineer with a strong technical knowledge in relevant fields
  • Familiarity with relevant safety procedures and regulations.
  • Able to understand the importance and principles of an advanced Quality Management System.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing Machinery and Production equipment
  • Experience with industrial networks and control systems
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Experience of safely carrying out planned maintenance across a site ensuring maintenance procedures are followed
  • Be an integral part of the engineering team, responding to breakdowns establishing root cause analysis to limit breakdown reoccurring, improving machine reliability and performance
  • Willing to learn and adapt to role requirements.
  • Hands on ownership of issues.
  • Experience of working well in a team within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work at height.
  • Computer Literate, MS Office / CMMS systems.

Desirable

  • Preferably Multi Skilled Electrical / Mechanical with a strong technical knowledge in relevant fields such as Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Ex forces Electrical / Engineer with
  • BTEC/HNC/HND/C&G or Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Proven history of strength in people leadership and development with experience managing skilled engineering teams.
  • Previous knowledge and understanding of the importance and relevance of a Quality Management System.
  • Ideally hold an IOSH certificate
  • Experience of updating records of tasks/spare parts used from store and work completed, using the CMMS system

Shift Pattern: Panama shift/days and nights as follows:

5 on – (3 days 2 nights) 5 off

4 on – (2days 2 nights) 5 off

5 on – (2 days 3 nights) 4 off
