Senior Category Buyer – Engineering/Manufacturing

Burton on Trent – 3 days in the office, 2 WFH

Up to £45k + £4k car allowance

Are you experienced in negotiation and supplier management? Do you have experience working within a manufacturing/engineering environment?

An engineering business in Burton on Trent is on the lookout for a Senior Category Buyer to join their Procurement Team. You’d be joining them at a great time due to their major development plans and extremely successful period of growth.

You’ll have the flexibility of hybrid working, with 3 days typically spent in the office and the rest at home.

Day to day you’ll be responsible for the strategic procurement of your chosen categories, likely to be focused on direct raw and processed materials. This will include but won’t be limited to:

• Category management and taking full responsibility of category spend.
• Supplier management and performance reviews.
• Managing contract negotiations and achieving cost savings.
• Approving and onboarding new suppliers and achieving better commercial terms

To be considered you’ll ideally have:

• Circa 4/5 years + procurement experience
• Previous experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment
• Contract management and negotiation experience
• Exceptional communication/relationship-building skills
• Understanding or exposure to project buying would be very advantageous.
