Technical Author (Contract)

We are seeking an experienced Technical Author to join our team for a 6-month contract to support a crucial phase of one of our programs. This initiative aims to centralize HR and procurement services onto a common platform. The program is approaching its end phase but requires high-quality documentation to ensure long-term success.

The Technical Author will collaborate with a team of architects and technical specialists and other internal and external stakeholders to create comprehensive documentation that will serve as a key resource over the next 5 years. This role will involve extracting knowledge from subject matter experts and synthesizing it into cohesive, clear documentation. You will work closely with both technical teams and the commercial partner to ensure all aspects of the solution are captured and communicated effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical documentation that accurately reflects the program's architecture and functionality.
• Work with architects and technical experts to gather insights and information, documenting complex systems in a clear, structured format.
• Ensure the documentation aligns with our long-term needs and is accessible for non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with various specialists to bridge gaps in existing documentation, supporting the final stages of the program.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Technical Author, ideally in public sector or large-scale IT projects.
• Strong ability to extract complex technical knowledge and translate it into clear, concise, and structured documentation.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture and large-scale system integration.
• Ability to work with commercial partners (e.g., IBM) and navigate the intricacies of public sector environments, understanding the challenges of rigorous, slow-moving processes.
• Experience working within government or public sector projects is desirable.
