Engineering Lead - £75k to £90k

We are in a very exciting period of growth and are seeking an Engineering Lead with a passion for product development and a proven track record in software delivery to join our team.
As our Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology stack, guiding development, and scaling our engineering team. Having come from a full-stack development background, you’ll be expected to get up to speed quickly on our existing technology, including .NET Core, the AWS Serverless Stack, ReactJS, and Next.js, and help build robust, scalable solutions that align with our long-term business objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to be the first internal technical hire and make a lasting impact on the direction of the company’s technology. You'll work closely with the leadership team to define the engineering roadmap, lead development efforts, and lay the foundation for a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, architecture and technical support of our core technology, focusing on .NET Core, the AWS Serverless stack, React JS, and Next.js.
- After building familiarity with our platforms, you will build and scale a local engineering team working closely with the CTO, ensuring recruitment and onboarding of top-tier talent in alignment with company goals.
- Collaborate closely with our product lead to ensure the seamless execution of the product roadmap and alignment with market needs.
- Be hands-on in the development process, ensuring high-quality code and the successful deployment of software solutions.
- Define and implement best practices for software engineering, including continuous integration, testing, and deployment processes.
- Work cross-functionally with teams such as product, sales, and customer support to deliver a cohesive, high-quality product.
- Maintain a strong focus on innovation, scalability, and security as we continue to evolve our technology stack.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and collaboration within the engineering team.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience with .NET Core, AWS Serverless architectures, React JS, and Next.js.
- Proven track record in leading development teams and delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to architect complex systems and be hands-on with development.
- Experience in building and managing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency and scalability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ideally experience with IoT, connected vehicles/telematics or CCTV solutions.
