M&E Design & Engineering Director – Hybrid - National

Oliver Sanderson is engaged with a global listed business in Europe, one of the world’s leading Engineering companies. A matrix business with a fantastic infrastructure division that you will be helping to lead as M&E Design & Engineering Director.

The Design & Engineering Director will sit within the senior leadership team and report to the divisional CEO. They will build and manage a multi-disciplinary design team focused on decarbonisation projects and oversee quality control and compliance.

Key areas of focus:

• Lead the technical function within the division.
• Oversee and ensure quality control and compliance in all design-related activities.
• Develop & implement Building Information Modelling and digital information management strategies.
• Set design objectives aligned with the company's goals.
• Monitor and manage risks associated with design and engineering through a dedicated committee.
• Promote strong communication and inclusion within the design team and across the division.
• Support innovation and digital transformation within the division.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in all design and engineering activities.
• Manage budgets related to design and engineering functions.
• Manage and influence key stakeholders.

Our client is looking for a strong leader with extensive experience at a senior level managing multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams across various projects. A track track record within M&E and you will have exceptional project and change management skills, a thorough knowledge of business assurance and risk management systems, and proven experience in implementing new systems and ways of working. You will be adept at budget management, possess excellent communication skills, and have a solid understanding of digital information management and BIM strategies. You will also have strong business and commercial acumen, ideally with a master’s degree in design, M&E Engineering, or a related technical field. We are looking for someone with industry experience in construction, M&E, engineering or contractor firms.

This is a hybrid role with a combination of working from home and travel to a local office, with some national travel as required.
