Head of Engineering and Product


Leading Engineering and Product outcomes (growth) for


Techniche EV, automating the maintenance of electric vehicle charge points to increase uptime and improve reliability;

Urgent, managing the maintenance of critical assets for fuel retailers at over 40,000 forecourt and convenience retail sites in 30 countries;

Primary Focus – Product

  • Development & delivery: co-creates the value proposition & narrative for each product line for the identified target markets & audiences. Work in collaboration with cross-functional leadership to test propositions to ensure validity
  • Product enhancements & development; setting & delivering the strategy of new product/product improvement introduction, robust end-to-end commercial assessments for projects, and sponsoring and participating in agreed project teams.
  • Reconcile the current product performance & develop future product roadmaps. Aligning with Engineering Development roadmap.
  • Managed product portfolios, working with commercial colleagues and tracking product performance.
  • Challenge changes to the delivery plan & and initiate activity to maximise sales & customer experience.
  • Awareness: In collaboration with the marketing and commercial teams, understand the product's current and anticipated market dynamics to identify and anticipate market opportunities and challenges.


Primary Focus – Engineering and QA

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive technical innovation and achieve business goals, leveraging your expertise in Microsoft tools such as the .Net framework, Net8, Azure/Azure Dev Ops (Azdo) SaaS architecture, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Bicep, ML, AI, and Python.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable and reliable SaaS solutions, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and best practices.
  • Develop clear engineering goals, roadmaps, and delivery timelines to support rapid and sustainable growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices to enhance velocity and productivity.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on our business and making recommendations for adoption as appropriate.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, effectively communicating technical concepts, project updates, and strategic initiatives to non-technical audiences.
  • Build and nurture high-performing teams and leaders through strategic hiring, coaching, and development initiatives.

  • Strategy: Our product and Engineering strategy is laser-focused, bringing absolute clarity to the customer segments we will target or not. This informs the technology and best practices we use to become market leaders, reinforcing that we are a purpose- built platform with the customer at its heart.
  • Quality and Performance: The product has little or no downtime. Defects are seldom found, and we can release frequently without issues. Technical debt is constantly managed, keeping it to a minimum so there is little interference with the product.
  • People and team: You maintain a highly engaged team that is thirsty for learning and innovation. They understand our customers and the external factors that drive customer decisions, producing a range of high-quality outcomes that deliver market- leading products.


Previous track record, built from:

  • Previous experience leading engineering and product teams in high-growth SaaS environments.
  • Certified in MS technology stack is essential.
  • Delivering engineering and product strategies that deliver growth for SaaS solutions is
  • essential; this should be demonstrable in at least three of your previous roles.
  • Can clearly articulate product and engineering outcomes in a monetised way.
  • Previous experience in working in a high-growth PE-backed business is essential
  • Previous experience in the CMMS or Electric Vehicle/EV charging points sectors would be
  • highly advantageous.
  • Being a hands-on & strategic leader. We are all Managers/Players.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to define project requirements, establish priorities, and deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer needs.
  • A member of the Operational Leadership team, reporting to Exec


Project Management

  • Manage the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Implement Agile methodologies to enhance productivity and streamline processes.


Technical Excellence

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to the engineering team, ensuring best architecture, design, and coding practices.
  • Deep, specialist knowledge in SaaS
  • Ensure the product meets high performance, security, scalability, and user experience
  • standards.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant
  • innovations into the project.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in GCP architecture and services, providing technical
  • guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders.


Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, to deliver cohesive, user-centric solutions.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and successes to stakeholders, providing regular
  • updates and transparent reporting.
  • Work with senior management to align engineering initiatives with business objectives and
  • strategic goals.


Quality and Performance

  • Establish robust testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of the platform.
  • Monitor and analyse platform performance metrics, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Implement and maintain best practices in cyber-security and data privacy.


Team Development

• Recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent, building a team capable of executing the digital transformation vision.
