Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: London, SW8 4DF

Salary: £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time, FTC to Permanent

Schedule: 5 days over Monday - Saturday

9 hours shift patterns:

  • From 7 am to 4 pm
  • From 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm

Start Date: Immediate start is available for the right candidate

This is an office-based role. Candidates must be based locally and able to commute to our London office or plan to relocate before starting work.

About the Role:

A multi-skilled maintenance engineer who will carry out responsive and planned maintenance across the site to support the manufacturing equipment and business requirements. Maintenance experience in food production and manufacturing is desirable.

Your objectives:

  • The efficient and safe operation of all equipment and related systems within the production of the Company;
  • Assistance with the general maintenance requirements of the rest of the Company.

Performance Measures:

  • Completion of tasks promptly and effectively;
  • Development of good working relationships with all staff;
  • Swift implementation of preventative actions;
  • Improving efficiencies.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carry out regular periodic checks as scheduled to plant and equipment, be aware of the required results from these checks, to analyse and report faults arising from unsatisfactory results.;
  • Be responsible for carrying out the routine servicing and planned maintenance tasks to the production equipment and building services as directed;
  • Diagnose faults and signs of deterioration from observations made during routine servicing, and report these faults using the appropriate documentation;
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the service programme, making recommendations for changes, based on experience gained from breakdowns and operating conditions of the machine;
  • Determine from previous service documents minor trends in deterioration of plant and equipment and act upon this;
  • Ensure that all paperwork as supplied relating to your duties, such as service schedules etc is completed legibly, kept up to date and readily accessible;
  • Determine that the plant and equipment serviced by you is in a safe and reliable condition before being returned to service;
  • Be aware of the necessary regulations regarding the electrical and mechanical safety of plant and equipment and the test results that you would expect from equipment in a satisfactory condition. Make the Company aware of any areas of which you are not familiar and require further training;
  • Withdraw from service equipment which you can prove to be unsafe, to employ the correct procedures for locking off, signposting and reporting such problems;
  • Diagnose and repair minor faults to production equipment and building services;
  • Be aware of spares and equipment required for your work, to advice of shortages and specific items required for certain tasks. Locate spares and equipment from existing stock;
  • Have an understanding of the normal operation of production equipment, specifically those serviced by you;
  • Actively assist in the alterations to the building services and fabric on an opportunity basis and as detailed by the Engineering Manager;
  • Locate the relevant details of suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors etc. to resolve an urgent problem. Communicate with machinery manufacturers as required to carry out your work.
