Technical Manager

Working for a bespoke joinery company based in the Clacton-on-Sea area the Technical Manager will develop the Technical Department within the company. If you have great CAD skills and experience managing a small team then this could be the ideal role for you.

Job Description:

• Interpret architectural drawings & designs as well as information brought back by the PM's from site meetings
• Draw site surveys and produce bespoke designs using 2D & 3D CAD applications
• Transform a design drawing into a detailed workshop drawing and cutting list/order sheet for production
• Create and maintain project management documentation to appropriate standards including design drawings, order sheets, fitting packs, Health & Safety requirements
• Develop the team within the Technical Department
• Consult with the workshop and estimating team to develop cost effective design details for production drawings
• Take ownership of all technical documentation and develop SolidWorks library
• Providing feedback in internal meetings to keep the team informed and help to improve communications between the office and workshop
• Attending occasional site visits
• Offer general back up to the Projects Department

Skills & Experience Required:

• Joinery knowledge essential
• Must have 2D & 3D CAD experience ideally AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
• Previous supervisory experience is preferable
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications essential.
• Able to devise and implement processes to improve the efficiency of the department
• Must be highly motivated and have effective communication skills
• Must have the ability to communicate ideas and processes with sketch details
• A keen eye for detail & the ability to work under pressure with a flexible approach is required
• A clean UK driving licence would be an advantage
