Service Engineer

Rotrex Group consists of two specialist businesses, Rotrex Winches and Rotrex OnSite, with locations in the UK, Holland, Belgium, and soon Germany.

Rotrex Winches provides specialist lifting and pulling winches and equipment, as well as project management, planning, training, and support. Our exclusive winch brands in the UK and the EU includes OMAC, Thompson, Colt, and Wharton. Rotrex OnSite manages the maintenance of high-level cradle and fall protection equipment, as well as cradle inspection, testing, and operator training.

Across the group we have highly skilled and experienced teams of engineers whose focus is to deliver the highest level of service for our customers.

The Role – Service Engineer

As a Service Engineer, your duties will include: 

  • Maintaining, testing, and certificating winching and ancillary equipment belonging to Rotrex and our clients
  • Completing documents and admin correctly
  • Keeping the workshop tidy and in order

You will also occasionally be required to work as part of the breakdown service for maintenance / repair of winching equipment outside of normal office hours.

Our Requirements – Service Engineer

  • Experience working on plant, LGVs or agricultural equipment
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Basic safety awareness and understanding
  • Positive with a determined approach to researching and analysing breakdowns
  • Self-motivated with capability of working independently
  • Ability to prioritise effectively under pressure

Although not essential, the following would be highly advantageous:

  • A relevant qualification
  • Knowledge or understanding of hydraulics
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK as required
  • Flexibility to work outside normal working hours (weekends / evenings)

The Package

  • Permanent contract, working 8am to 4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am to 3:45pm on Fridays
  • Based at the site in Alfreton (Derbyshire), with company van provided for travel to customer sites
  • Salary in the region of £25,000 to £32,000, level dependent on experience
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising with service to a maximum of 30 days plus bank holidays
