Technical Estimator

Calder Industrial Materials is a highly reputable manufacturing company with significant experience delivering high quality, tailored solutions for a wide range of customers worldwide. We are one of the UK’s leading building materials suppliers, delivering lead sheet and a wide range of ancillary products to builders’ merchants nationwide.

In addition, we are also the UK’s leading specialist in lead engineering, designing, manufacturing, and installing radiation shielding and other products in the nuclear and medical markets, amongst others.

The Role - Technical Estimator

Reporting to the Head of Projects, you’ll be responsible for preparing costings for healthcare shielding systems and construction-based projects for customers, ensuring that all estimating work is completed in the most timely, accurate, efficient, and effective manner possible.

You’ll work in conjunction with other departments (including Sales, Production, and Project Management) to produce costings for each opportunity, determining the selling price and submitting quotations to the client.

The role will also include visiting customer premises across the UK for meetings and to conduct surveys from time to time.

The Package

As a Technical Estimator, you’ll benefit from:

  • A salary circa £35,000
  • Permanent contract, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm, and Friday 8:30am to 12:30pm
  • Based at our premises located on Sealand Road, on the outskirts of Chester City Centre

Our Requirements – Technical Estimator

  • Proven experience of technical estimating gained within either a construction, healthcare, or manufacturing environment
  • Either have a construction, manufacturing or engineering related qualification
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings
  • Good IT skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • A valid UK driving licence (company vehicle provided for business use)

Although not essential, the ability to work with architectural specifications and bill of quantities, would be advantageous.
