Technical Author / Technical Writer (Aerospace)

The Role – Technical Author / Technical Writer (Aerospace)

Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, as Technical Author you will collaborate with the Product Support and Engineering teams to develop content for technical publications, acting as writer and illustrator as well as editor. Your duties will include:

• Recruiting and managing the workload, wellbeing, and growth of colleagues in the Technical Publications team
• Developing and managing the departmental budgets, projects, and daily duties
• Developing and revising aircraft Component Maintenance Manuals and ACMM
• Creating repair / assembly / disassembly procedures from engineering drawings
• Being the go-to for all customer queries relating to publications during development and in-service
• Updating, revising, correcting, and validating manuals and Service Bulletins
• Researching, planning, and revising technical component maintenance manuals and aircraft maintenance tasks

Our Requirements – Technical Author / Technical Writer (Aerospace)

• Experience gained as a Technical Author / Technical Writer, with a background in the aerospace / aircraft industry, with good knowledge of SGML and XML languages
• Knowledge of ATA 2000 and 2200 specifications as well as the various types of software available to produce ATA specifications
• Ability to read and understand engineering documentation and drawings
• Proficiency with CATIA software or similar 3D CAD software and Adobe FrameMaker
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
• Good judgement, able to lead a team with a motivated and positive approach

Although not essential, hands-on experience with assembly / repair of landing gear or hydraulic component design and operation would be advantageous, as would experience gained in product development and an understanding of S1000D specification.
